Hawkfire padded to the abandoned badger set, and turned to face his new apprentice. "Right, so, today we'll be learning basic battle tecniques." He meowed. "Most of these you'll probably already know, but its important to know the names, because once we move into combonation attacks, it'll be easier to learn them."

Hawkfire's whiskers twitched in annoyance. Timepaw was bright, a prodigy really, but all that seemed to go to his head. A cynical know-it-all; he was alot like his namesake. Straightening up, the ginger tom meowed, "Right. We'll start off with a basic tecnique- the front paw blow. This tecnique requires claws to be sheathed. Basically, just bring your paw down hard on your opponent's head. It'll leave them dazed for a second, giving you enough time for another strike. You try it now."

Timepaw lowered his head a bit and focused suddenly he shot forward putting all his strength on his back legs for speed and gave Hawkfire a hard blow on the back of the head.

Hawkfire saw what was coming, and pitched himself foward just in time. Spitting out dead grass, he looked at Timepaw. "Nice move, but, uh, its supposed to daze them; not kill 'em." He meowed, shaking dust from his pelt. "A hard blow to the back of the head can kill a cat if its hard enough, so, this time, try doing it to the top of my head. Please?" he meowed, a little worried

"You told me to do the front blow you never said where or how hard." Timekit hissed then with out warning took a flying leap at Hawkfire and brought his paw down hard on top of his head throwing his weight to the left so he pulled Hawkfire on to the moorland grass

For a moment, Hawkfire though that Silverpelt had fallen down to Earth, since all he could see were stars for a second. then he shook his head, and got up. "Right. So, you got that down. Next, the frontal strike. You strike down with your front paw at the body or face of your oppenent; claws unsheathed. This is probably the one you'll use the most. Now obviously we aren't gonna unsheath our claw in prctice, so just pretend that your claws are out." he meowed, hoping that he would listen.

"Well without claws it would just be a front blow so we've already done that beside, your skull would be open if I did use my claws"

"Hey, show some respect!" Hawkfire's tail lashed. Why the heck did he choose Timepaw to be his apprentice? His first apprentice!?! "Fine, you want a challenge? Do a frontal blow, frontal strike on me, claws sheathed."

"Fine!" Timepaw leaped forward without hesitation and smashed his paw on to Hawkfire's head unsheathing his claws though not enough to draw blood only to get a grip and hurled him on the ground. "You like that?!"

Hawkfire had almost had enough with this apprentice of his. "That was fine, but watch the attitude!" He hissed.

Timepaw lashed his tail inviting more. This was easy, he knew all this stuff already. "Whats the big deal, how about teaching me something I don't know?"

"And exactly how do you know this stuff?" Hawkfire inquired. He was a little worried about his apprentice. He was young, head-strong; but he was extremely skilled. A prodigy! But he feared that Timepaw knew this, and it was all going to his head.

"Timeshadow? But- he's dead!" Hawkfire sighed. If this cat really trained under Timeshadow, then he'd be able to recognize the deceased cat's meathods in combat... "Fine. We'll have a mock battle; claws unsheathed. But! Listen. When I say stop, you stop. Got it?"
