Snowstar padded into the grassy hollow, his apprentice following close behind. "Are you ready?" He asked.

Goldpaw followed him and stopped. "Yes" She said softly. She really didn't agree with fighting, but she knew she must.

Snowstar turned and faced her. "Right. Today, we'll be practicing different techniques to bring down a larger opponent. Now. If you were trying to bring me down, what would be the best place to attack?" He asked.

Goldpaw glanced at Snowstar and sat down. She pretended to jump, but she sat down again. Only a second later, she jumped onto his back. All her weight went on Snowstar.

"Nice try." He meowed, "But for someone bigger than you, you need to attack differently." He gentley shook, trying to dislodge Goldpaw.

Goldpaw jumped off him and nodded. "Hmm..." She walked to the right, then turned around and did the other side. She jumped onto his side.

Just before Goldpaw crashed into him, he braced himself, and was moved only slightly. "Better, but remember: If your going to bring down someone bigger than you that way, you'd need to build up a more powerful spring, which is what you did. However, you must be very quick or very strong to pull off something like that, or else your opponent will have enough time to brace himself."

Goldpaw nodded again. She faced oppisite of him and padded towards his face, but sprang over him and turned around, crashing into his other end.

Snowstar was unbalanced for a second, then sweeped his hindpaw under Goldpaw's legs, tripping her. "Much better, but you still need to think."

Goldpaw got up and breathed heavily. She felt light-headed, but she was ready. After a few moments, she padded into the bushes and waited a minute. When Snowstar wasn't looking, she switched bushes and padded towards his side, in a flash she rammed into him.

When Goldpaw rammed into him, he was unbalanced and fell over. Snowstar got up and meowed, "Good job, but in a battle, you wouldn't be able to used that strategy. Now, prepare yourself!" Ducking low, Snowstar swiped a blunt paw under Goldpaw's legs, tripping her again.

Snowstar shook his head. "Whenever you fight someone arger than you, you must always aim at their legs. This maneuver requires speed, so listen carefully. With a smaller cat like you, you must dash under me, and slam your flank into the joint one of my hind legs, then dash, and do the same for the foreleg diagonal of the hindleg you just hit. If you do it correctly, then it should be one, fluid motion where you barely have to stop."

Goldpaw nodded. "Alright.." She dashed into the bushes, and quickly switched side, making no sound, and dashed out, under Snowstar. She hit his hindleg on a joint, then scrambled towards his foreleg's joint. She jumped out, and looked around. "That good?" Still taking deep breaths.

Snowstar crumpled to the ground. "Very good!" He purred, "I havn't seen an apprentice do that correctly for the first time in moons!... Goldpaw, do you think you're ready to become a warrior?" He asked.
