Mossfire glanced around, tasting the air. Her eyes darted warily around, but she kept her nervousness hidden otherwise. The Badger Set had been abandoned long ago, but she hadn't been this far from camp since she was captured by twolegs... Her mottled ginger pelt twitched, and she shuddered, shaking the memories off. Physical scars were bad enough—mental scars were worse. She flicked her tail at Seapaw, and mewed awkwardly This is the Badger Set... Great StarClan, she felt as lost as a WindClan kit in a ShadowClan Nursery! Had she really not been here since her return?

"This is the place you wanted to show me? Wow...." Seapaw was speechless of what she saw. "Ummmmm, where are we going now?" Seapaw impatiently circled around her mentor.

Mossfire's eyes glinted with amusement, and she flicked the impatient young apprentice's ear with her tail. We're staying here for a while. Tilting her head to one side, she added Do you know how to catch a rabbit?

"You're gonna teach me how to catch a rabbit? All right!! I bet Sunpaw doesn't know how to catch one yet. I'm gonna be the BEST hunter in WindClan!! All right!!!" Seapaw bounced around the old badger set, her eyes bright with excitment.

Hush, or you'll scare all the prey away! Mossfire's voice was stern, but there was a teasing glint in her eyes. She sat down, and added Allright, Seapaw. What do you think you should do when hunting rabbit?

"That's easy! Run fast. You have to run fast or else the rabbit will get away. Duh! Every WindClan cat knows that!" Seapaw rolled her eyes in disgust as she told her mentor what you needed to do when you hunted for rabbits.

Mossfire's tail flicked, and she stared at the young apprentice with penetrating amber eyes. Is that all, Seapaw? All you need to do to catch a rabbit is run fast?

Seapaw shrugged. "I don't know." Seapaw looked around, as if she were looking for somebody or something.

Mossfire flicked her tail again, and mewed Yes, you need to run fast, but you also need to make sure that the rabbit doesn't see, hear, or scent you until you're close enough. If you just run at it, it'll get away. She broke off, parting her jaws to scent the air, and blinked at Seapaw—she would give her apprentice a chance to scent the rabbit herself, rather than telling her.

Seapaw glanced around. shuffling her paws nervously. She pricked her ears, and opened her jaws to scent the air. "There's a rabbit nearby Mossfire," Seapaw mewed quietly.

Mossfire nodded, and mewed "Try to catch it." She wanted to give her apprentice more instruction, but She was afraid of treating Seapaw like a kit, and she needed to see how much the young apprentice would be able to do already.

Seapaw didn't move, except for the flicking of her ears. She stood very still, then shot after the rabbit. Soon Seapaw was padding back to Mossfire, her eyes shining. She was carrying a small rabbit in her mouth. "Is this good?" Seapaw asked Mossfire, dropping the rabbit on the ground.

Mossfire purred approvingly, and flicked her tail. "Very good. Go burry that." She waited for a moment, then flicked her ear, adding "Also, try to pay attention to the wind--I know it didn't shift until you'd caught the rabbit, but It's always good to make sure." She smiled, then crouched low to the ground, parting her jaws. The scent of prey blew over her tongue. She crouched lower, her mottled ginger pelt blending into the ground until the bird glided into view, struggling to keep its altitude in the winds. She waited patiently until it had passed overhead, then shoved off, twisting as she leaped. When she fell back to the ground, the bird's wing was almost torn off. She snapped its neck quickly, ending its pain, then burried it and watched her apprentice awkwardly.
